Whether you're unemployed, looking for your next job and set of challenges, or entering the job force for the first time, there are a few steps you can take to start your job search off on the right foot. In today's job tip, we're going to take a look at some of these steps and how to do them.

Before I take these 3 solutions apart it is important to state that Corporations are not to blame, it is inherent in any corporation that they will try to get the absolute maximum benefit out of any resource for a given cost.

Another way into work is offering you self as a volunteer. You might have heard all the news recently about the governments voluntary work scheme and how people have called it slave labour. Well this is absolutely rubbish. Unpaid work is not slave labour and never will be. You are getting work experience which you can't put a price on. Many unemployed people complain they don't have work experience but are then first in line to dis the new incentive as slave labour. I have personal experience with voluntary work as I still work for an organisation which I started in as voluntary. I was a paid member of staff within a month.

Now, if you are worried about the money aspect of quitting your job, try to look at it in a positive way. Your happiness is more important than that paycheck. You have other options. Go ahead and get into a job that you like or start your own business. Go back to school and get a degree so you can pursue the career you've always wanted. If you don't know what type of job you'd like, go to a career counseling office at your local community college. There are professionals available to help you. You don't have to stay stuck where you are forever.

The issue, at least in my mind, is that job seekers do not understand how the job search works. They review a job posting and mentally catalogue their positives and negatives for the position. Say there are 10 qualifiers for the job but the seeker only has 6 of them. What happens? The job seeker moves on to the next job and that job goes unfilled.

Applying for every job you "FEEL" you may qualify for. Recruiters and employers hate to see resumes of professionals who seem to be "Jack of all trades, master of none". You will seem unorganized and this method will show a lack of career focus. To a manager, you are just seeking a job vs building a career.

How about you? Do you like your job or is it driving you crazy? Do you dread going to work every day? Maybe your job is causing you to stress out like a wild person, which certainly affects your attitude at home with the partner or family. Not enjoying your job even just a tad is a miserable thing.

A little Flexibility won't hurt. Let go of your ego. It may not be the best job or the one you feel appropriate for you but you just have to accept it. You may have been the Senior Manager but now you are being offered with a junior position, it may seem unthinkable but accepting it and bending your pride is quite needed. Recession will teach you how to find job to bend forward and to stop leaning backwards on the pedestal.

Don't fret yet. This isn't always such a bad thing. It's better to have no experience sometimes. But you must understand that any position you apply for is entry level. This is your chance to learn from your employer and become a better employee.
